Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026 · Applies to the PastePlate-AI app (Android & iOS) and pasteplate-ai.com

In one sentence: PastePlate-AI stores your health and nutrition data on your device. We do not run a cloud that receives your logbook. You talk to AI either by copy-paste via your clipboard, or, if you turn on in-app API mode, by sending a request directly to the provider with your own API key. PastePlate has no AI server in between.

1. Who we are

PastePlate-AI is provided by the developer of the PastePlate-AI application (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions: privacy@pasteplate-ai.com.

2. The PastePlate principle

PastePlate-AI is built around copy-paste. In clipboard mode (the default) the app does not call AI providers. When you use the AI menu, the app may copy text to your clipboard or read what you paste back.

Optionally you can enable in-app API mode and enter your own API key. Then the app sends HTTPS requests from your device straight to the provider you chose (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek or a custom HTTPS endpoint). There is no PastePlate server that receives your key or your chat. The app does not call providers in the background. A request happens only after your action: a message in the in-app chat, or a tap on a report button. Health sync is not an AI call.

3. Data in the app (stored locally)

All data you enter or import stays in a local database on your phone or tablet, including for example:

  • Profile and goals (age, weight, height, strategy, coach preferences)
  • Meals, nutrients, plant diversity and recipes
  • Measurements (weight, body fat, blood pressure, cholesterol, strength, sport, body sizes)
  • AI-generated reports (daily, weekly, monthly) after you import them or, in API mode, have them generated
  • Library favourites, settings and profile history
  • In-app coach chats (threads and messages), when you use API mode

We do not operate a user account or server that stores this information for you.

3a. Health sync (optional)

You can optionally link PastePlate to the health platform on your phone. The feature stays off until you enable it in Settings.

On iPhone and iPad

PastePlate reads data you allow from Apple Health, such as weight, activity, calories burned, sleep, heart rate, blood pressure and workouts. If you enable it, meals and hydration logged in the app can be written back to Apple Health. Synced data stays in the local app database on your device. We do not upload it to PastePlate servers.

On Android

PastePlate reads data you allow from Health Connect, such as weight, activity, calories burned, sleep, heart rate, blood pressure and workouts. If you enable it, meals and hydration logged in the app can be written back to Health Connect. Synced data stays in the local app database on your device. We do not upload it to PastePlate servers.

What we do not import: GPS routes, maps or watch-specific scores (for example Garmin Body Battery). Your watch brand connects through the health platform on your phone; PastePlate has no direct link to Garmin, Fitbit or similar brands.

Health sync is separate from the AI flows. Synced values may appear in a clipboard export or in an in-app API request only after you choose to share data with an AI provider (see section 4).

4. When data leaves your device

You decide when data leaves your device:

  • AI clipboard flow: start prompt, export request or data block pasted into your chosen AI app or browser
  • In-app API mode (optional): a chat message, a short day snapshot, an optional meal photo, a day/week/month report job or a week-plan chat sent over HTTPS from your device to the provider, using the API key you entered
  • Backup & export: logbook backup file, CSV export, cross-platform database transfer (Android ↔ iOS)
  • Share: images or files you share via the system share sheet

After you paste into an AI service, that provider processes the content under their privacy policy. The same applies in in-app API mode: the provider processes the request under their policy. We do not control and are not responsible for how they handle your data, and we do not receive a copy of the traffic.

4.1 What a share can contain

The text the app prepares for your AI coach, on the clipboard, or as the context of an in-app API request, can include the following categories of personal data:

  • Your profile and goals, such as age, sex, weight, height, calorie and protein targets and your chosen strategy
  • Meals and nutrition values of the selected day or period, including plant diversity
  • Measurements such as weight and calories burned from your connected health platform, when you use health sync
  • A meal photo if you send one in the chat
  • Context for a day, week or month report or a week-plan chat

Voice: your microphone stays in the app. The text goes with the request. If the language pack is missing, the device may dictate through Google or Apple online speech, not through your meal provider.

4.2 Your consent before the first share

The first time you use an AI flow with a given provider, the app shows a consent dialog that lists these data categories. In clipboard mode nothing is copied until you agree. In in-app API mode nothing is sent until you agree. If you cancel, no data leaves the app. You can review or reset this consent at any time in the AI coach settings ("Ask for consent before sharing"). Choosing a different AI coach triggers the consent question again for that provider.

4.3 Third-party AI providers

Which provider receives your data depends entirely on your choice in the app. Supported providers and their privacy policies include ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Claude (Anthropic), Grok (xAI) and DeepSeek. You can also configure a custom AI service; in that case its own privacy policy applies. You are responsible for the endpoint you enter; PastePlate does not see that call. We have no agreement with these providers and receive no data back from them.

In-app API mode. If you enter your own API key, the request goes directly from your device to that provider. PastePlate does not proxy the call, does not store your key on our servers, and does not read the traffic. Your key stays on the device (Android: encrypted app storage; iPhone and iPad: Keychain) and is excluded from logbook backups and from Android ↔ iOS database transfer. Chat history stays in the local app database.

5. What we do not collect

  • No selling of personal data to advertisers
  • No analytics or tracking SDKs built into the app by us
  • No automatic upload of your logbook to our servers
  • No requirement to create a PastePlate-AI cloud account
  • No collection of your API keys by PastePlate (they stay on your device)
  • No PastePlate server that receives in-app chat traffic

6. Website (pasteplate-ai.com)

This website is static. We do not use contact forms or account login on the site. We do not set marketing cookies. Fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts; that service may receive standard connection data (such as IP address) from your browser. See Google’s privacy policy.

7. Legal basis (EEA / UK)

Where applicable law requires a legal basis: we process app data on your device to provide the app you use (performance of the service you request). Optional actions such as sharing, exporting or sending an in-app API message are initiated by you.

8. Your rights

Because your data is on your device, you can access, edit and delete it directly in the app (including wiping the logbook or deleting the app). You may also export your data as a backup file or CSV. If you have questions about your rights under GDPR or similar laws, contact us at the email above.

9. Children

PastePlate-AI is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Security

Data is protected by your device’s operating system. API keys you enter are stored only on the device and are not included in backups you export. You are responsible for securing backups and exports you create. Use a device passcode and keep your AI and cloud accounts secure.

11. Changes

We may update this policy when the app or website changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12. App stores

If you download PastePlate on iPhone or iPad, the Apple App Store terms and privacy practices also apply.

If you download PastePlate on Android, Google Play terms and privacy practices also apply.

13. Not medical advice

This Privacy Policy covers data only. PastePlate-AI does not provide medical advice. See our health sources and health disclaimer.
